306 Yucca Park - Alexa

There are now 2 Alexa devices in the apartment, one in the Living Room and one in the bedroom.
For those who are not familiar with Alexa, it is a voice activated "personal assistant".
Any commands should be prefixed with "Alexa" which wakes it up to listen for a specific command.

Some of the "skills" for Alexa include:

1. "Alexa, ********************" to set the apartment alarm to "Part alarm" which is the recommended setting for overnight & general use. NB. All doors & windows must be closed to set the alarm.

2. "Alexa, *************************" to set the apartment alarm to "off" or unarmed. There is usually no need to enter a code for the alarm if you use Alexa. Sometimes Alexa will ask for your voice code when you turn off the alarm. If this happens just say the 4 digits that you would use for the keypad.

3. "Alexa, play hit music sixties", for music hits from the 1960s

4. "Alexa, play hit music seventies", for music hits from the 1970s

5. "Alexa, ask BBC sounds to play Radio 1,2,3, or 4" etc., for most BBC Radio stations.

6. "Alexa, play Absolute Radio 70s, or 80s or 90s" or any other station from "Planet Radio",

7. "Alexa, play Heart, Smooth or Gold" etc, or any station from Global Radio,
   see "www.global.com/radio" for full list.

8. "Alexa, set an alarm for 9am tomorrow morning" to get an alarm at your chosen time. You can also set a daily alarm with "Alexa, set an alarm every day for 1pm" Please cancel any repeating alarms before you leave the apartment. This is an alarm sounded on Alexa, and not to be confused with the apartment security alarm.

9. "Alexa, drop-in on Rikki Gray" will contact Rikki or Laura on their Alexa if they are at home. This is just like a phone call using Alexa and is free as it is entirely internet based.
   If the light ring on Alexa is rotating green you are receiving a "drop-in" from Rikki.

10. You can combine any of the above radio stations & a timer or alarm, so you say "Alexa, play Absolute Radio 80s for 30 minutes" then Alexa will play the requested radio for 30 minutes then turn off. This can be useful if you like to go to sleep with music.

1. If you have any concerns over privacy, or don't wish to use Alexa, you can press the button on Alexa that is a circle with a line through it, this will turn off the microphone on Alexa, and she won't be able to listen to anything. Of course, this will also mean you can't issue commands as it isn't able to hear you. We do not recommend this.

2. You can increase or decrease the volume on Alexa by using the "+"or "-" buttons on Alexa, or simply say "Alexa, turn up (or down) the volume".

3. As Alexa can now control the apartment alarm, it is the recommended method of arming or disarming the alarm, as it is easier than using the keypad.
